Air Traffic Control Tower-DTW Airport Detroit, Michigan Detroit Metro Airport ranks among the top 10 busiest airports in the world. When the new terminal opened it provided less congestion for the millions of passengers who use the airport every year. Unfortunately due to the close proximity of the vehicles and aircraft, the terminal also created an air quality problem for the Air Traffic Controllers. The tower's conventional charcoal filtration was unable to sufficiently remove the exhaust odors entering the tower through outside air intakes. The quality of the TRACON's environment reached unacceptable levels, forcing the Air Traffic Controllers to file a grievance. ionair® appliance units provided an immediate solution to the TRACON's indoor environment.
