University of Cincinnati Vontz Center for Molecular Studies

All too often, "problems" are unintentionally designed into a building. By-products such as odors of building materials and furnishings will off-gas Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the occupant's environment.

This is the environment created in the Rieveschl auditorium in the Vontz Center of Molecular Science at the University of Cincinnati. The odors were so strong that the short-term solution was to dilute the space with large amounts of outside air. A ducted ionair® system has been added to the auditorium's air handling unit to reduce levels of airborne VOCs and to improve the breathing environment.

  • Pollutants are cleaned from the air
  • Reduced odors, irritants, and complaints
  • Conservation of energy by reducing outside air used for dilution
